About the event

Step into the longest night of the year with a journey like no other. On the Winter Solstice, we invite you to an immersive overnight Gong Puja, a rare opportunity to be immersed in the sound of the gongs for an entire cycle of the night.

The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is a time for stillness, reflection, and renewal. It is a moment to celebrate the return of the light and new beginnings. Aligned with this powerful turning point, our overnight Gong Puja offers an opportunity to connect with your inner guidance and move into a deep, attentive state of presence and rest in a way that replenishes both body and spirit.

The evening begins with an opening ritual, blending the sounds of crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs and other sacred sounds to prepare the space while setting our intentions for the night ahead. From there, the Puja unfolds in the ancient tradition of continuous gong sound: 7.5 hours of vibration carrying you through the entire arc of the night until dawn.

What is a Gong Puja?

A Gong Puja is more than a sound bath. Inspired by Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux, it is a devotional ritual that honours participants and provides space for healing of the mind, body, and spirit. Traditionally, it consists of 10 sessions of 45-minute gong baths, totalling 7.5 hours, allowing deep relaxation, self-healing, and connection to something larger than ourselves.

A Gong Puja amplifies the effects of a regular gong bath, creating space for reflection, transformation, and connection to your inner guidance. The night is designed as a sacred container for deep awareness, self-healing, and connection, allowing you to engage with the sound and the rhythm of the solstice at your own pace.

What are the benefits?

Immersion in continuous gong sound can support:

  • Releasing mental, emotional, and physical tension

  • Entering deep states of presence and inner awareness

  • Experiencing clarity, balance, and wellbeing

  • Increased energy and vitality, often leaving participants feeling refreshed and renewed even if sleep is intermittent

What to expect?

The evening begins with time to arrive, settle, and create your sleeping space. We’ll then gather for an opening ritual, weaving together sound, intention, and ceremony with instruments such as crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, and other sacred sounds. This prepares the ground for the overnight Puja.

From there, the gongs will be played continuously for 7.5 hours, carrying you through the night. You may drift in and out of sleep, rest in a meditative state, or simply allow the sound to move through you. Each experience is unique and personal. As dawn approaches, the Puja gently closes with a period of awakening, followed by a light vegan breakfast shared in community.

Schedule:

  • 8:00 pm – 8:30 pm: Arrival and setting up your sleeping space

  • 8:30 pm – 10:30 pm: Opening ritual, gentle movement and intention setting

  • 10:30 pm – 6:00 am: Gong Puja immersion (7.5 hours)

  • 6:00 am – 6:30 am: Awakening period

  • 6:30 am – 7:00 am: Light breakfast

What should I bring?

We will be sleeping through the night, so bring your own bedding to achieve optimum comfort. Bring a thick sleeping mat, your sleeping bag, a pillow, and an eye mask. Avoid anything that requires frequent inflation or squeaky, like a blow up mattress. The room is heated. Some participants choose to wear earplugs for comfort; the vibrations of the gongs travel through the whole body, so the experience is not diminished.

Who is it for?

Everyone is welcome - experienced practitioners and those curious to try a gong bath for the first time. The beauty of a gong bath is that anyone can enjoy it, no experience necessary. (Please see note below about circumstances where gong baths might not be suitable).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Gong baths are not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker, anyone who suffers from fits (epileptics), or anyone who is extremely sensitive to sound. If you are a mother to be in your first trimester, please reach out to us to discus suitability. If you wear a hearing aid, your device should be turned off during the session. Additionally, those with certain medical conditions or on specific medications should consult a healthcare professional before participating.
